SHAR Satish Dhawan  Space Center is the India’s rocket launching center. It is located in shriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. It is named as SHAR, in the memorial of former chairman of ISRO Satish Dhawan. SHAR occupies  about 145 km2 with a coastal length of 27 km. Usually if we observe, all the rocket launch centers are located at sea-shore. The reason behind this is, if any rocket is failed to launch into space or if any technical problem occurs in rocket during the launch, then that rocket can be destroyed immediately and  the pieces of the rocket will fall into ocean without causing any disturbance and damage to the man kind.

SHAR consists of two launch pads. The second one was built recently in 2005 which is used for launching all types of rockets. In first launch pad rocket will be static, means it will be fixed to launch stand and will be launched from there itself. In second launch pad, rocket will be constructed at one place and will be moved to other  during the launch. If we observe, the rocket will be build on a stand which is movable. This stand is made in Germany by using which the rocket can be moved from one place to other.
